Specific Working Conditions: 

  • Must be able to lift items up to 25kg
  • This position requires physical work on deployed warships involving movement in small paces.
  • Deployable personnel must have individual medical and personal liability cover.
Duties and Role:
  • Involved in the transfer and set to work of deployed CIS installations during the operational handover of Standing Naval Forces (SNF) NATO flagships.
  • Provides remote support to Flagships of those nations involved in the Standing Naval Forces (SNF's).
  • Assists Core Section Head with the day to day System Administration (SA) of the Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) of the currently fielded version of MS Windows Server, to include managing Active Directory Services (Domain Controller, Group and Security Policies), as well as the DNS and DHCP servers.
  • Assists with the day to day System Administration (SA) of the Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) of the currently fielded version of VMWare Virtualization technology, to include installation and troubleshooting of ESX hosts.
  • Assists with the System Administration of the Storage Area Network (SAN) to include routine backup of the SAN, as required by the SLA and local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assists with the System Administration of HW and SW of assigned systems;
  • Assists with keeping all technical and service oriented documentation pertaining to assigned systems, is prepared, properly stored and kept up-to-date;
  • Maintains a close liaison with other technicians and engineers within the CSU and the wider NCI Agency.
Requirements:
  • NATO Secret security clearance
  • Knowledge and practical experience in VMware virtualization technology. Configure, upgrade, deploy.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in configuring iSCSI targets for virtualized environments.
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Server Technologies; Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange.
  • Knowledge of ITIL IT service management model;
  • Knowledge of Incident and Problem Management processes and experience in this area;
  • Ability to write technical documentation and user guides;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Must have practical experience in VMware virtualization technology, including VCSA configuration, ESX upgrade, and bare metal deployment.
  • Must be able to deploy at short notice to resolve equipment failures on virtualized mission-critical systems.
