Duties & Role:
  • Deliver daily configuration and patch management services
  • Maintain and update the CMDB in collaboration with SMC team
  • Document configuration changes in designs, work packages, security specs, and technical diagrams
  • Ensure NATO/industry naming conventions are applied throughout the CSU
  • Support and possibly deputize for Change Manager and Transition Manager as needed
  • Organize and lead configuration-related coordination meetings (e.g., CAB, delivery panels)
  • Generate and present reports on configuration compliance and service performance
Ideal Interim Profile:
  • Confident and systematic; can work independently and proactively
  • Comfortable managing technical documentation and working with multinational teams
  • Ready to handle backup roles (Change Manager, Transition Manager) as needed
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for both technical and process stakeholders
  • Must be able to work primarily on-site in Brussels (limited telework)
 
Specific Working Conditions:  Working physically on-site is required to perform most daily activities. There is a limited possibility for remote work (i.e. 1 day/week).
 
Requirements:
Skill, Knowledge & Experience:
  • The candidate must have a currently active NATO SECRET security clearance
  • Higher vocational education with 3 years post-related experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on Configuration Management experience
  • Strong experience in ITSM environments, including configuration and change tools
  • Background working with infrastructure projects or service delivery organizations
  • Familiarity with secure/classified environments is a plus
Configuration Management:
  • Strong understanding of configuration item (CI) lifecycle: identification, classification, control, auditing, and reporting
  • Experience with CMDB population, maintenance, and compliance
  • Familiar with NATO and industry-standard naming conventions
  • Able to manage configuration documentation, versioning, and patch lifecycle data
IT Service Management (ITSM) Tools:
  • Proficiency in BMC Remedy ITSM Suite or similar tools
  • Comfortable working with service management data, reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Smart Reporting), and process automation
Change and Transition Support:
  • Able to work closely with Change Manager to organize and lead CAB meetings
  • Provides backup for Service Transition Manager (e.g., delivery panels, proposal meetings)
Data & Technical Understanding:
  • Basic to intermediate skills in data modeling and structuring
  • Familiarity with database platforms (e.g., MS SQL, Oracle)
  • Experienced in interpreting and documenting complex IT environments
ITIL Process Knowledge:
  • Solid understanding of ITIL v3/v4, especially in Change, Configuration, and Service Transition areas
  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation certification is required
  • (Desirable) Additional ITIL certifications or courses on configuration/transition
Required Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of end-to-end configuration management and patch planning practices
  • Strategic contribution to CM policies and documentation
  • Understanding of ISO/IEC standards (e.g., ISO 9000, 20000, 27000) is a plus
  • Knowledge of NATO-specific documentation and naming standards (can be learned on the job)
  • Knowledge of reporting, compliance tracking, and corrective action planning
