We're seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead complex tax engagements, advise business clients and their owners, and provide both compliance and strategic tax planning. What You'll Do
- Lead tax engagements from planning through completion
- Manage federal, state, and multi-state tax compliance
- Provide tax consulting, planning, and technical guidance
- Advise business entities and their owners on complex tax matters
- Manage client deadlines, deliverables, billing, and collections
- Research and resolve complex tax issues
- Review work and provide technical guidance to junior team members
- Coach and mentor associates while helping build a high-performing team
- Develop strong, long-term client relationships
- Present recommendations clearly to clients and internal stakeholders
- 6-16 years of tax experience, preferably in public accounting
- CPA certification required
- Experience with business entities and their owners
- Strong multi-state tax compliance and consulting experience
- Excellent tax research and technical accounting skills
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Proven project management and technology capabilities
- Client-service mindset with strong business judgment
- Local Texas candidates preferred, particularly those who value occasional in-person collaboration
- Master's degree in Taxation or advanced tax education is a plus
- Complex partnership allocations, including:
- Preferred returns and carried interests
- Waterfall structures
- IRC §704(c) property
- §704(b) revaluations
- §754 elections and related §734/§743 basis adjustments
- Real estate taxation and like-kind exchanges
- Investment fund partnerships
- Business acquisitions and dispositions
- FASB ASC 740
- U.S. tax considerations for international operations
